Many families move to town and find it difficult to meet other parents. Luckily there are a number of options available to reduce that sense of isolation. Many local churches also sponsor daytime meeting for kids and moms. One (of many) is the Lake Travis United Methodist Church, which has a lively women's bible study group. I've attended a meeting as a guest and they were very fun and friendly.

Cedar Park moms can check out the MOMS Club of Cedar Park. Like the Lakeway Playgroup above, this group meets monthly and sponsors lots of fun activities. Another very friendly bunch. Contact them at momsclubcpl@yahoo.com.

The Lakeway area has an excellent school system. I've found from experience that the district staff works 110% to give each child a great education. Whether it's speech therapists, nurses, teachers, or principals, I've been blown away by the level of committment. So that being said, there will always be some kids who do better in a different setting.

Some families express an interest in home schooling. They could look for more details through the Austin Area Home Schoolers or the Texas Home School Coalition. These groups are just two of many that my home schooling families use. They should be able to point you in the direction of additional resources.
